School Uniform
Our uniform reinforces our shared identity as part of an ambitious, hardworking and caring Newcastle Academy community. Everyone starts on a level playing field, with no one picked on or left out because they can't afford the latest fashions. Our inclusive uniform minimises divisions and gives everyone the freedom to express their individuality through how they learn, how they get along with others and how they contribute to school life. Our uniform includes a school blazer. We expect all students to wear their blazers around school. When the weather is hot, we invite students to remove blazers if they want to. They can always remove blazers in classrooms if they ask their teachers.
Required
- A branded black blazer with the Newcastle Academy badge to be worn at all times.
- A plain white buttoned shirt (must be buttoned to the neck and tucked in).
- One of: A branded black school skirt with the Newcastle Academy badge (worn with black socks or tights), available from our uniform suppliers OR a plain black pleated skirt (worn with black socks or tights). Both types of skirt should be of an appropriate length and worn correctly OR plain black tailored trousers (worn with black socks) – leggings, denim, corduroy, canvas or cargo material trousers are not allowed.
- A branded Newcastle Academy clip-on tie.
- Plain black flat polished shoes. Any logos must be discreet and 100% black. Boots, rubber-toecap plimsolls and trainers (with a mesh upper) are not school shoes.
- Plain school bag (a rucksack or shoulder bag) that can securely fasten and take an A4-sized folder.
OPTIONAL
- Black V-neck Branded jumper with the Newcastle Academy badge. Can be a plain black V-neck jumper with no visible logo.
- A plain black belt may be worn with trousers.
- Coats may be worn outside. Hoodies are not allowed.
PE KIT
- Branded Newcastle Academy PE top
- Black tracksuit bottoms or plain black shorts/skorts
- Branded Newcastle Academy PE hoodie (optional)
- Sports trainers (not pumps or fashion shoes)
- All sportswear should be plain with minimum logos or stripes
JEWELLERY and APPEARANCE
- No jewellery is allowed except a wristwatch, and one stud in each earlobe. This is for safety, security and equality reasons.
- Apart from the above, no other piercings are allowed. If a student is thinking about having piercings, these should be done at the start of the summer holidays as no student is allowed to wear any type of facial piercing, stretcher, plug or retainer whilst in school. Visible tattoos are not allowed.
- Make up must be natural. Nails must be natural in appearance – nail polish, false nails or extensions should not be worn. False eyelashes or extensions are not allowed.
- Hair styles should be sensible and hair colour should be natural. Extreme styles are not allowed. Please check with your child’s pastoral leader before considering any dramatic changes to style or colour. No patterns should be shaved into hairstyles. Any hair accessories should be discreet.
